Developmental recreational soccer is often the first introduction into soccer for many children. Our mission is to make it as fun as possible so kids want to come back year after year. The program is run by two former Tolland High School standouts and TSC alum, high school players work with parent coaches to provide a fun and exciting experience.

U5 Fall Soccer
U5 Recreational Soccer

U5s – Practice is Coed and we will use a series of exercises and games designed to get kids comfortable with the ball but also with the physical activity of soccer (running, moving with the ball, passing, dribbling, playing within a large group).

U6 Recreational Soccer

U6s – Practice is Coed and we will use slightly more advanced exercises and drills. The kids will be divided into small teams and we will introduce scrimmage play (15 – 20 minutes in each session). Parents volunteers are needed to supervise the kids. All volunteers are welcome. It’s fun and it improves the level of engagement of the kids.

U8s – Boys and girls will participate in the same sessions but at different times. The groups are larger and the goal is to develop confidence on the ball and improve technique (ball control, shooting, passing, dribbling). Scrimmage play will be 20 – 30 minutes.

Requirements

Each child will be provided with a shirt and assigned to a group. They should come with the following:
– A ball: size 3 for U4/U5/U6; Size 4 for U7/U8
– Shin Guards – Optional for U4/U5 but required for U6 and U8
– A bottle of water
– Cleats are optional, sneakers and turf shoes are fine as long as they provide a sure footing.

Season Schedule

Fall Season: Sessions start in early September and run until the end of October or beginning of November depending on weather.

Spring Season: Sessions start in late April or early May and run until mid June.
